However, in some cases additional or custom parameters are required.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">The following example shows how to add additional event parameters for SCOM events, but this applies to other connectors in the same way.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">If you have a look in the XML part of a SCOM event you see all the event parameters coming from SCOM. In some cases there are additional parameters needed in policies, e.g. if you need a certain Alert ID from SCOM.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.derdack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/10\/a.png\" style=\"margin-left: 1em;margin-right: 1em\"><img border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.derdack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/10\/a.png\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: left\"><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">The next steps will show you, how to add these parameters:<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"text-indent: -18pt\">1.<span style=\"font-size: 7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"text-indent: -18pt\">Create a backup of your Enterprise Alert database<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"text-indent: -18pt\">2.<span style=\"font-size: 7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"text-indent: -18pt\">Change an option in the database table for the respective Enterprise Alert connector<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"text-indent: -18pt\">3.<span style=\"font-size: 7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"text-indent: -18pt\">Restart the Windows Service of Enterprise Alert<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"text-indent: -18pt\">4.<span style=\"font-size: 7pt\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"text-indent: -18pt\">After this you are able to create a new parameter in the conditions for the alert policy<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"text-indent: -18pt\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<h3><span lang=\"EN-US\">Create a backup of your Enterprise Alert database<\/span><\/h3>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"text-indent: -18pt\"> <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">In the first step you should create a backup of your Enterprise Alert database to be able to roll back in case of an issues.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<h3>Change an option in the database table for the Enterprise Alert connectors<\/h3>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\"><\/span><\/div>\n<div>To enable a new parameter, that is not part of the default list, you have to set a permission in the database table for the connectors. Therefore you have to sign in to the Enterprise Alert database, choose the table \u201cEventProviders\u201d and change the value in the row \u201cOptions\u201d from 16 to 18 for the \u201cMOM Connector\u201d which represents SCOM, as shown in the figure below.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.derdack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/10\/b.png\" style=\"margin-left: 1em;margin-right: 1em\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"71\" src=\"https:\/\/www.derdack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/10\/b-300x67.png\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: left\"><\/div>\n<h3><span lang=\"EN-US\">Restart the Windows Service of Enterprise Alert<\/span><\/h3>\n<div style=\"clear: both\"><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\">You have to restart the Windows Service of Enterprise Alert, to let the changes take effect. Therefore, you have to open the \u201cServices\u201d window and restart the \u201cEnterprise Alert\u00ae 2015 Server\u201d service. After the restart, you should be able to create a new parameter.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.derdack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/10\/c.png\" style=\"margin-left: 1em;margin-right: 1em\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.derdack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/10\/c-300x142.png\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both;text-align: left\"><\/div>\n<h3><span lang=\"EN-US\">Create a new parameter<\/span><\/h3>\n<div style=\"clear: both\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">In the next step you can create a new parameter. In the Enterprise Alert Web portal go to \u201cAlerts\u201d <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00e0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> \u201cAlert Policies\u201d and chose an existing alert policy or create a new one and note that the \u201cEvent Source\u201d is \u201cSystem Center Operations Manager\u201d. When setting up the \u201cConditions\u201d you are now able to choose the item \u201c&lt;&lt;Create New Parameter&gt;&gt;\u201d from the parameter list and enter a new parameter as shown in the figure below.
