    Improved 2-way integration with BMC product family

    With our latest release 8.4.4, we included a number of changes to our 2-way smart connectors for the BMC product family to improve running scenarios as well as to ease the way for more integration to benefit from the reliable notifications and remote remediation capabilities Enterprise Alert offers. For those not familiar with our 2-way smart connectors – this is something unique to Derdack and coded against BMC APIs in order to ease implementation and to increase transparency within the BMC environment.

    For BMC Remedy: Smart time format-detection

    Due to the highly adaptable nature of BMC Remedy, we are often faced with customized instances that deviate from the standard. To ease the implementation, we included a smart time format detection as well as changes to our remote actions to further enhance compatibility and add more integration options.

    How did we do it?

    With custom procedures and workflows requiring different initial statuses we went ahead and made our remote action much more flexible and able to handle the restrictions imposed on us by BMC Remedy. No big magic just smart coding. đŸ˜‰
    The real magic is the other change to the Remedy Connector. To ease the implementation, we included a smart time format detection. Upon the initialization of the connector, our BMC Remedy module will automatically try to identify the correct date format by iterating through a list of known date formats. Easing the already straight forward setup process Enterprise Alert offers even further.

    For BMC Truesight: Enhanced polling performance

    With BMC Truesight becoming more prevalent in onsite hosted environments for critical IT infrastructure we decided to implement changes to our BMC Truesight Module to further improve reliability and performance to make sure critical incidents are quick and reliably handled and when necessary persistently escalated to the right person at the right time.

    How did we do it?

    We optimized our BMC Truesight connectors retrieval and update behavior to handle even more events and event updates per second. While doing so we also added more resilience to corrupted and malformed Events coming in from BMC Truesight.

    Summary

    Using the Enterprise Alert connectors for BMC Remedy and BMC Truesight to retrieve and update events is a quick and secure way to initiate reliable notifications and remote remediation capabilities in Enterprise Alert. With Enterprise Alerts’ ability to precisely aim alerts to responsible users you save a lot of time and increase response times and reduce the time necessary to remediate the issue. The advantage of Derdack’s full 2-way connector to BMC is that all information is fed back into the respective BMC systems with full transparency and added value to your BMC environment.
